The babies were asleep in their cribs and I was strapped in with a baby to my back. Ha! The house was getting closer to completing, however it was still a long distance away. The project would require time, money and of course my favourite shopping experience to furnish this house. My three sons and I were looking for the hidden treasures going to estate sales in order to help keep my spending under control. Our routine was of walking around garage sales and auctions on Saturday and Sunday, and buy a variety of pieces old and newly constructed. My work days were spent at the end of the driveway, painting or sanding. My passion for furniture restoration began with a look similar to this. Although our house had been decorated, I was unable to put down. There was an area on the market where I sold items. I could outgrow the market because I had many more pieces than I could use. My home became a place that I hosted open houses where up to 1000 visitors could see items from the first floor, and then purchase the items. Growing Days is the result from this. Growing Days was more than a thriving business but as well my family. The balance was between starting a new business and being a mother. Growing Days seemed like the best combination. The year 2013 was the year my daughter Nora became our fourth child. My company was doing well however I needed a break. I made the decision to take some time off from my vintage furniture and slow down to remain at home with the kids. It was exactly what I was looking for at the moment. But after a short time, my phone began to ring. Calls came in asking me for help with decorating their homes and interiors. The majority of them walked into my house at my open house for furniture. It wasn't long before I managed a large-scale home renovation company. It began with taking clients one by one at a pace that I could be confident in. I'm sure you would have amused me if you had said that this was going to be the subject of an DIY Network tv series. When I look back, it still makes me giggle.
